Employment Opportunity with the Town of Espanola

Casual Administrative Assistant

The Town of Espanola is seeking an individual to fill the position of “Casual Administrative Assistant” at the Public Works Office. This position would replace the current Administrative Assistant when on leave/vacation.  The successful candidate will be required to be available on short notice and hours will vary. 

The successful candidate will be the first point of contact for visitors and residents attending the Public Works Office and is responsible for providing excellent customer service and clerical support to ensure the efficient day-to-day operation of the Public Works Department.  Tasks include responding to enquiries, account payables/receivables, payroll, purchasing, maintaining records and files, cemetery administration, and various other duties as assigned.

Interpersonal and customer service skills are necessary together with an excellent understanding of office-related software and equipment.   

The ideal candidate will be an administrative professional with two (2) years of experience in an administrative or clerical capacity in an office environment.  A minimum Grade 12 education is required, post-secondary education or training in a business administration related program preferred.

Successful candidates will require a Criminal Reference Check.
