The Town of Espanola will be awarded $281,044.71 over three years under the Ministry of the Solicitor General’s Local Priorities Funding Stream of the 2022-23 – 2024-25 Community Safety and Policing (CSP) Grant. The project proposal submitted by the Espanola Police Services Board focused on resources to implement the LaCloche Foothills Community Safety and Well-being Plan. This plan focuses on bringing together the relevant organizations of our region to grow existing community safety and policing resources while also developing new initiatives with the intent to create a sustainable and collaborative framework to advance this work once the project cycle is complete. The main priorities identified in the plan developed last year through community consultation are mental health and addictions, affordable housing, access to services, and seniors.

“This funding provides the necessary resources to move forward with the implementation of the Community Safety and Well-being Plan. The Police Services Board is very pleased to see this continued support from the Province.” - Espanola Police Services Board Chair, Bill Foster

“The LaCloche Foothills communities of Baldwin, Espanola, Nairn and Hyman and Sables-Spanish Rivers have come together to support community safety and well-being initiatives in collaboration with leaders from our health and social services sectors. This funding will support our continued momentum on these important initiatives moving forward.” – Town Clerk / Manager of Planning Services, Joseph Burke
