As we mark both Indigenous Veterans’ Day and Remembrance Day this week, we pay tribute to the important contributions and sacrifices made by all veterans including those of First Nations, Inuit and Métis Peoples in service to Canada. We pay tribute to those who have been injured, and to all of those who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom, peace, and democracy. This year marks the 76th year since the end of the Second World War, where more than one million Canadians answered the call to defeat the forces of fascism, authoritarianism, and oppression. Let us never forget their sacrifice or the sacrifice of all who serve and who have served in our country’s armed forces. May we honour them and their families who have given up time with their loved ones in the name of our country.

As always, the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 39 in Espanola will hold a ceremony this Thursday, November 11th starting with the parade formation at 10:30 a.m., the march beginning at 10:45 a.m. and the service at 11:00 a.m. The Legion has extended an invitation to attend to the general public.
