The volunteer program of the Espanola Public Library creates opportunities for Community members to actively contribute to the Library’s vision of excellence in Library service. The Library welcomes volunteers in order to enrich or expand Library programs, and to inform the public about Library services, thus affording volunteers opportunities to contribute valuable services to the community.

The minimum age requirement to become a Volunteer is 14 years of age. To fulfill eligibility requirements, one must participate in and complete all designated training before becoming a volunteer. The volunteer must be officially accepted and enrolled by the Library prior to the performance of any tasks.

Friends of the Espanola Public Library was formed in 1994 to assist the Library with fundraising for an automation system. The group continues to support the Library in many ways: to fundraise for new furniture or collections, to assist with Library programming, and to increase community awareness of Library activities.

The Friends usually meet on the third Monday of every month at 6:30 pm in the Library Meeting Room. Meetings are regularly from September until June.

There are two membership levels: Full members attend meetings on a regular basis and participate in Friends events. Supporting members do not attend meetings regularly, and may be asked to participate in Friends events on a limited basis.
