Safety is Paramount in the opening of Pool & Fitness Centre

As of August 4th, the pool and fitness centre at the Espanola Regional Recreation Complex will re-open under a phased-in approach in observance to public safety protocols.

Espanola Council approved Leisure Services plan for the reopening of the Complex in alignment with the Stage 3 Opening Plans released by the Province.

"We are excited to welcome our members back," says Joel Yusko, Manager of Leisure Services. "Our user experience will be significantly different as the health and safety of our membership and community is of paramount importance. In order to ensure physical distancing users in both the pool and fitness centre will have to pre-book and drop-ins will not be accommodated. Additionally, some of the equipment from the fitness room will be moved to the larger auditorium to afford liberal spacing and all touch-surfaces will be frequently cleaned. Customer Service staff will be contacting all members to let them know what to expect and to start scheduling the pool and fitness areas in preparation for reopening."

Like the Province, this phased-in approach will be monitored and evaluated to streamline and build on the initial service levels.

"Diligence, kindness and understanding will be required by our pool and fitness users as we navigate new terms of service within the COVID 19 pandemic," says Mayor Jill Beer. "I am confident our members will rise to the challenge."

Reopening schedules and details will be posted on the Town's website and Facebook Page in the coming week.
