Mayor & Council Extend Appreciation to Seniors

June is Seniors Appreciation Month and although COVID-19 cancelled the Annual Seniors Day Celebration seniors remain very much celebrated and appreciated in Espanola.

In a Facebook video message on the Town of Espanola site, Mayor Jill Beer explained that this year's Seniors Appreciation Day was planned to include a lunch at the Recreation Complex with entertainment, line dancing, a free swim and free movies at the Library. Local health partners were also invited; the Family Health Team, From Soup to Tomatoes and Public Health Sudbury & Districts were to be at the celebration to share the many programs they offer to support the senior community.

"COVID -19 changed everything and our best-made plans are now postponed until June of next year," said Mayor Beer, "Our senior population make up the majority of our community volunteers without them our charitable organizations and clubs would not survive. The Town of Espanola is grateful for your engagement and years of giving to our community! In these times of physical distancing, we especially recognize your resilience, strength and determination and we look forward to the next time we can celebrate your contributions together."

Mayor & Council hope to appreciate seniors at the annual event next June when the community can unite in celebration
