The community and media are invited to the dedication of the “B” Softball Diamond in memory of Roberta Vincent on  Saturday, October 2nd at the Red McCarthy Memorial Ball Field, Pavilion & Soccer Field.

Espanola Council approved the dedication in late 2020 and due to provincial COVID restrictions, delayed the ceremony until now. 

Roberta Vincent passed away in April of 2011. For more than 25 years she was an integral part of women’s softball in Espanola and around the greater North Shore area. Roberta was President of the Espanola Women’s Softball League for many, many years and mentored and coached hundreds of young women in the 70’s, 80’s and 90’s.  Roberta’s kind and caring nature is remembered by those students and staff she worked with during her career as a First Nations Guidance Councillor at Espanola High School. 

Friends and members of the public will be encouraged to share any thoughts or memories of Ms. Vincent during the open mic portion of the event.
