The Regular Meeting of Council of November 26, 2024 featured two land-use planning items and the third quarter budget to actual report. A Special Meeting Following the Regular was held to discuss matters pertaining to identifiable individuals. Following this meeting two new community representatives were appointed to the Not-For-Profit Housing Board due to vacancies on the Board.
Planning Items
Council approved a consent application B04/24 to sever approximately 115 m² from 454 Mead Boulevard to be conveyed to 537 John Street.
Council approved consent application B05/24 to sever LOT 9; CON 5 PLAN; M176 LOT 8 PT. PCL 31453; TOWNSHIP OF MERRITT; TOWN OF ESPANOLA into two lots. The owner plans to construct a 4-unit semi-detached and a 1 unit detached on each lot. Third Quarter Budget to Actual Report
The Treasurer presented the 2024 Q3 Budget to Actual Report. As of the end of Q3 (end of September), staff is forecasting an operating surplus of approximately $690,609 due to deferred projects, increased revenues, and in year cost savings/unused contingencies.
Mayor and Councillor Announcements
Deputy Mayor Kelly acknowledged and thanked students from La Renaissance school for their plaque they presented to the Town as part of their Pilgrimage of Hope to recognize service providers in the Town.
Members of Council all acknowledged the events from the weekend, notably the Rockin’ Around the Christmas Oval event put on by the Town and the Elks Christmas Craft Show.
