The Public Works Department is aware of a town-wide water colour disruption in the distribution system. The water has a yellow tint in most cases. We have performed numerous water tests today at residences throughout Espanola, with all confirming that the water is safe for human consumption according to Ontario Regulations. We have been communicating with Ontario Clean Water Agency (OCWA) throughout the day, who have made adjustments at the treatment plant that are already improving the clarity of the water leaving the plant. The Public Works Department expects the disruption to subside in 24 – 48 hours. In the meantime, please check your water clarity prior to cleaning laundry. “Iron-Out” laundry additive is available at no charge at the Public Works Department at 596 Second Ave. Please contact Public Works at (705)869-1751 to report a coloured water disruption and request testing.
We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused and thank you for your patience throughout this disturbance.
